Dear John,

Women make up ½ of the world’s population. But did you know that just ¼ of the world’s parliamentarians are women? Just 25% to be exact.

Why does this matter? Women legislators are more likely than their male counterparts to tackle key issues for women and their families such as education, child-care, and social health. In short, we know that the unequal representation of women in government directly correlates with the unequal treatment of women in wider society.

Ahead of this year’s International Women’s Day (8^th March), we want to highlight this 25%... 1 in 4 parliamentarians being women is not enough - it’s time to take action!

What’s involved? We’ve come up with a list of fundraising challenges inspired by the number 25 – choose one (or come up with your own!) and get loud for women! We may still be facing lockdown restrictions this International Women’s Day, so our challenges can all be done from your home or online.

Challenge ideas:
* Walk or run for 25 minutes each day for 25 days
* Practise yoga for 25 minutes each day for 25 days
* Write 25 lines of a feminist poem
* Take 25 interesting photographs showing the role of women in your life
* Bake 25 cupcakes
* Practise mediation each day for 25 days
* Host a Zoom tea party with 25 people

We hope you will join our call for more women leaders this International Women’s Day. Plus, it might even be a bit of fun to get us through each day in lockdown!

Any funds you raise alongside your challenge will support our work with partners in Africa and Asia. Fantastic partners like Women Challenged to Challenge who campaign for women with disabilities to be included in political leadership positions in Kenya.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Take care and stay safe,
