WATCH: ‘Conversion therapy’ concerns are being used to attack the Gospel
======

Dear supporter,

Nelson McCausland, a former minister in the NI Executive, recently used Facebook to share the testimony of Becket Cook, an American who lived a homosexual lifestyle until he turned to Christ. LGBT activists denounced Mr McCausland as a proponent of ‘conversion therapy’. Some, including elected officials, called for him to be sacked from his position on the Board of the NI Education Authority.

But Becket Cook’s testimony is about his Christian conversion and has nothing to do with ‘conversion therapy’. The vitriol experienced by Nelson McCausland shows that the real target for these activists is the Gospel.

Prison for praying
------

The Australian State of Victoria has already gone much further down this dangerous road.

Pastoral advice and prayer that upholds the Bible’s teaching on sexual ethics have been criminalised under its draconian new ‘conversion therapy’ law. Offenders face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to AUS$10,000 (~£5,600).

Chillingly, the state Attorney General also said that during the twelve-month implementation period, church ministers would be re-educated to prevent them breaking the law.

Here, the Westminster Government is contemplating its own ‘conversion therapy’ ban. We must be vigilant and ensure that the freedom of churches to preach the Gospel, to pray and to care for people is not restricted.

Please continue to pray that churches will remain free to preach the whole counsel of God (Acts 20:27). Pray too for Christian believers in Australia, that they may respond to this attack on religious freedom with grace and with truth.

Yours in Christ,

Ciarán Kelly
