John,
You get a lot of email. We know. And it’s not just from candidates, it’s from countless organizations and PACs too. It can be hard to know which organizations are effective and which aren’t. Even with the orgs you trust, like DFA, it’s hard to keep track of the different campaigns and actions we’re working on.
So today, we want to make sure you’re in the loop on some of the biggest campaigns we’re leading or participating in with partners and we want to ask for your help to keep these campaigns going until we win. To be clear, we’re not even going to mention all the direct candidate work we’re doing for our endorsed candidates on-the-ground, online, and in-the-media. This email message is all about the issues and what we’re doing to deliver on the promise of change.
CHECK IT OUT BELOW AND THEN PLEASE CONTRIBUTE $3, $30, OR $300 TO FUEL THE CAMPAIGNS TO WIN!
One of our best partnerships is with progressive thought leader and former Labor Secretary Robert Reich. We’re honored that he’s chosen to work with us on critical issues having seen time and again the incredible success of our members in making change happen. Here’s two current campaigns making waves in Washington right now:
Remove Insurrectionist Members of Congress – Over 50,000 signatures and counting.
"The main organizer of the "Stop the Steal" campaign has said that three House Republicans may have helped organize the assault on the U.S. Capitol. Congressmen Paul Gosar, Andy Biggs, and Mo Brooks allegedly “schemed up” the attack that left several people dead. Worse yet, Representative Mikie Sherrill, a former CIA analyst, says that Republican members of Congress led the attackers on a reconnaissance tour of the Capitol the day before the attack.
The 14th Amendment explicitly states that anyone who has "engaged in insurrection" against the United States Constitution is disqualified from serving in the U.S. Congress. Case closed. They must go.
Any seditionists in Congress proven to have incited, planned, or participated in the January 6 riot must resign or be expelled." – Robert Reich
Louis DeJoy Must Be Fired – Over 24,000 signature and growing
"The Washington Post broke the news that Postmaster General Louis DeJoy is preparing to put all first-class mail onto a single delivery track that would result in massive price increases and slow down mail delivery. That’s right, the head of the USPS, a Trump Republican mega-donor appointed by a Trump-dominated Board of Governors, wants to make changes to services that will increase delivery times for people relying on prescription medication, credit card bills, and mortgage payments to arrive on time.
We need to fix the Postal Service, not make it worse. That starts by firing Louis DeJoy.
We need President Biden to take action and stop this threat once and for all. Join me in fighting to save the Post Office before it’s too late." – Robert Reich
STAND WITH ROBERT REICH AND DFA. WE SUCCEED BECAUSE YOU MAKE IT POSSIBLE. PLEASE CONTRIBUTE NOW!
DFA works with many progressive leaders and organizations to build progressive power and get things done!! Some more February highlights include partnering with Rep. Rashida Tlaib and supporting Rep. Deb Haaland. Take a look:
Rep. Rashida Tlaib asks DFA members to help her build support in Congress for protecting our civil rights in the rush to hold insurrectionists and domestic terrorists accountable for violence throughout the country.
"In the wake of the attack, some of my colleagues in Congress are pushing to expand our laws to investigate and prosecute acts of domestic terrorism -- measures which will further erode our human and civil rights.
Every time our country has increased its national security powers, they’ve been used to disproportionately target, surveil, and criminalize already-over-policed communities of color and religious minorities -- the same marginalized groups targeted by white nationalists.
Tell Congress: Don’t expand national security powers at the expense of our rights. Use existing tools to hold white nationalists and insurrectionists accountable." – Rep. Rashida Tlaib
President Joe Biden has nominated Rep. Deb Haaland to lead the Department of the Interior. But Republicans, backed by corporate polluters and deep-pocketed oil lobbyists, don't want Deb to be confirmed. We can't let them stop her.
The Department of Interior isn’t just the frontline for protecting America’s natural resources nationwide, it’s also responsible for honoring the federal government's legally binding obligations to the country's 574 federally recognized Indian tribes and Alaska Native villages.
Imagine, as the first Native American Interior Secretary and a fierce supporter of the Green New Deal, the impact Rep. Haaland will have leading the department in a new direction. That’s why thousands of DFA members are building support for Rep. Deb Haaland in the Senate and growing the campaign on social media. #DebforInterior

And let’s wrap up this long message with one more critically important progressive action we’re fighting for in Congress right now.
Fighting for D.C Statehood
Washington D.C. is home to over 700,000 people, more than both Vermont and Wyoming, and they pay the highest per-capita federal income taxes in the United States, yet they have no voice in the halls of Congress.
Think about this: During the January 6th insurrection, had Washington D.C already been a state, they would have been able to call on the national guard and help prevent the events that took place. Instead, their hands were tied.
People across the country are speaking out in favor of D.C statehood and we have real momentum. We need to do everything in our power to amplify the voices of D.C. residents and join the call for D.C Statehood today.
Okay, that’s enough highlights for today. DFA members are doing critical work and driving progressive change on the issues that matter.
PLEASE CONSIDER FUNDING THIS WORK WITH A CONTRIBUTION RIGHT NOW. EVERY. SINGLE. DOLLAR. COUNTS!
Thank you for everything you’re doing to deliver on the promise of change.
