A new plan from President Biden and House Democrats proposes a simple way to keep families afloat during this pandemic: $3,600 per child.
“The pandemic is driving families deeper and deeper into poverty, and it's devastating,” Rep. Richard Neal told The New York Times. “This money is going to be the difference in a roof over someone's head or food on their table. This is how the tax code is supposed to work for those who need it most.”
Biden's proposal would expand the child tax credit to provide $3,600 for each child younger than 6 and $3,000 per child up to 17 for Americans who meet certain income thresholds, the Times reports. Before we weigh in on the plan, we want to know how you feel about it:
