The North Texas chapter of DSA recently suspended a Black AfroSOC comrade after she proposed several resolutions they did not agree with, one being to create a Black Reparations fund inspired by the resolution approved by our Seattle DSA chapter in December. This action was rooted in anti-Blackness, a long prevalent issue in the North Texas chapter and DSA at-large. We stand in solidarity with our Black comrades and value the work they do for DSA. We are fed up.
The Seattle AfroSOC caucus has signed a statement on Anti-Blackness in DSA. You can read and sign as an individual here: https://bit.ly/3akdvpG.

We demand action from the DSA NPC Steering Committee.
DSA is co-hosting a Rally for Amazon Workers and Tenant Rights on Saturday, February 20th, as part of a day of action in support of the union drive of Amazon Warehouse workers in Bessemer, Alabama. Alongside King County Labor Council, 350 Seattle, Amazon Employees for Climate Justice, Transit Riders Union, UNITE HERE Local 8, and others, we’ll begin with a rally at the headquarters of a corporate landlord lobby group to protest their opposition to desperately needed tenant rights reforms at the State Legislature, and then march to the Amazon Flex warehouse a few blocks away.
This rally and march seeks to inspire workers across the country to organize and fight-back against the starvation wages and horrific conditions that have made Jeff Bezos his billions. A strong show of solidarity at this strictly socially-distanced event here in the Seattle area will send a powerful message to Amazon workers in Alabama that we have their backs! Join us at 2PM this Saturday, February 20th!
SDSA Member Nikkita Oliver was profiled in the South Seattle Emerald this week, discussing their leadership, their continued work in Black and Brown liberation, and their vision of the future. We echo the article’s title in saying: Thank you Nikkita, for helping us envision a liberated future.
We’re not gonna do the usual plug this week, friends. Instead, we’ll see you off with a benediction: may you have clarity in your purpose, solidarity in your struggle, and the courage to imagine a better world is possible.
Solidarity Forever,
Seattle DSA
