In the wake of the 2020 election, today’s holiday has special meaning. First and foremost, the White House is once again occupied by someone who puts country first, truly embodying the ideals of public service.
Presidents’ Day falls in the middle of Black History Month. As we continue our Black History Month programming, today we are reminded once again of the importance of Black communities -- particularly Black women leaders -- in putting our country on a path towards becoming a more perfect union . We would not have Joe Biden in the White House or a Democratic majority in the Senate without them.
Today we celebrate our nation’s heritage and the importance of our leaders, elected and not.
