The deadline to submit an entry for the Lapeer County Republican Party Scholarship is this Wednesday, February 17. Graduating high school seniors who reside in Lapeer County are eligible, no matter which high school they attend. The application and details are available on our web site at www.lapeergop.com. A written essay is required and will be judged. The winner will receive $1000 to continue their education at a college or technical school.
This year’s essay topic is “Nick Sandmann, the Covington Catholic High School student made nationwide headlines while attending a March for Life in Washington D.C. Many made quick judgment of this young man from the way the media portrayed him during his encounter with a Native American protester. Do you think the major media sources contribute to division in America? What, if anything, can be done to require fact-based truthful reporting?”
There’s still time to enter. Check our website for more information.
