Dear Jack,
Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you and your family are doing well during these tough times. We'll be sending out weekly Bulletins to update you on all the information you need in the 13th District. Please reach out to my office with any questions or concerns you may have regarding legislation or state policy. If you are having trouble with a state agency, such as the VEC or the DMV, we are happy to assist you and be your advocate. You can call our office at 571-367-9080, or email us at [email protected].
Sincerely,
Senator John J. Bell

Special Session Begins
Last week was a bit of an unusual week -- due to the short 30-day session this year, Governor Northam convened a special session to begin right after the end of the regular session. Special Session began on Wednesday, which will allow us more time to tackle an ambitious agenda for Virginia families. I have nine bills heading to House committees now, and I look forward to passing legislation that protects veterans from housing discrimination, prevents Greenway customers from unreasonably high tolls, and supports local business over the next couple weeks.

Vaccine Updates
Virginia's vaccination response continues to improve each week -- as of February 13th, Virginia ranks #7 among states in terms of the percentage of our population to receive at least one dose, and #9 in terms of percentage of distributed doses that have been administered. We are still limited by the supply of vaccine that is being distributed to Virginia, which means that you will likely encounter a six-week wait from the time you register for the vaccine. We do not expect to see our supply increase substantially until March.
On Friday, county vaccine registration sites stopped accepting new registrations in anticipation of the new statewide system. If you have already registered with Loudoun or Prince William County, your place in line is still saved and you do not need to re-register. If you are in group 1b and still need to register for a vaccine appointment, you will be able to do so on Tuesday, February 16th after the statewide system goes live.
CVS is currently accepting a limited number of vaccine appointments. In order to qualify, you must be 65 years or older, AND on a county waiting list already. These appointments fill up quickly, but new appointment slots are added each day. You can get more information here.
