Last month, pro-Trump terrorists — waving Confederate flags, wearing anti-Semitic clothing, and hanging nooses — stormed our streets and broke into the U.S. Capitol, demanding we overturn the results of the presidential election.

It was a dark day for our democracy. No person is above the law, and it is clear to me that Donald Trump committed impeachable offenses. He violated his oath of office and must be held accountable for spreading baseless claims of voter fraud — which fueled the riots and encouraged these terrorists to storm Washington and attack our democracy.

That’s why I just voted to convict Donald Trump for inciting this violent, deadly insurrection against our government.

Trust me, this decision was not made lightly. It brought me no joy to impeach a former president. But, I’m confident that my decision was the right one.
