Got a second, folks? I won't keep you long.

Look, it was clear to me and a majority of my colleagues that Donald Trump committed impeachable offenses when he and his enablers incited a violent insurrection against our government. Now that his trial is over, we must work twice as hard to repair the destruction he has left in his path and ensure this never happens again.

I'm confident that we can rebuild our country and strengthen our democracy during this difficult time — but only if you're on my team.

If you can, I need you to chip in $10 or more to help us move forward, rebuild our democracy, and get our country back on track. We cannot let Trump’s destructive past hinder our country’s future.

Hello,

As a U.S. Senator, I took an oath to uphold the Constitution, defend our democracy, and ensure no one is above the law. This is an oath I take very seriously.

Last month, pro-Trump rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol in an effort to keep members of Congress from certifying the results of the 2020 election. Lives were lost, others were gravely endangered. Our democracy was under serious attack.

Over the past week, the House Managers presented a clear and fact-based case that proved to a majority of my colleagues that former President Trump incited the deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on January 6th. That’s why I voted to convict Donald Trump today.

If you can, I need you to chip in $10 or more to help us move forward, rebuild our democracy, and get our country back on track. We cannot let Trump’s destructive past hinder our country’s future.

I went into Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial promising to fulfill my duty as an impartial juror and working to ensure the American people had access to the truth. But it’s clear that a number of my Republican colleagues had a different outlook.

They chose to put their own political self-interests ahead of standing up for our democracy — a dangerous signal to send to future presidents.

Donald Trump broke his oath to uphold the Constitution when he incited a violent insurrection that tragically turned deadly. I voted to convict him to make clear that this behavior shouldn’t stand. Will you chip in to support our movement today?

It’s a tough day for this country, and for all Americans who believe that no one — not even a former president — is above the law. But I am encouraged that some of my Republican colleagues joined me today in holding Donald Trump accountable. They prove that this wasn’t about politics to many of us.

We now need to take this energy and anger we have and do something positive with it — we need to work together and strengthen this democracy so a future president won’t be able to so easily divide the country. I promise I will do my part.

Thanks for pitching in, if you can.

— Jon
