John --
Today is the three year anniversary of the tragic school shooting in Parkland, Florida.
Seventeen innocent lives were cut short in a senseless act of violence. It’s a painful reminder of the very human cost that the gun violence epidemic has wreaked on our country. But after three years, it’s also a reminder that Washington hasn’t done enough to keep our communities safe.
In 2019, House Democrats passed H.R. 8 to impose universal background checks on all gun sales and transfers. That bill was stonewalled by Mitch McConnell. In 2021, we have an opportunity to finish the job.
Will you add your name in support of universal background checks? Let’s show Congress and the NRA that we won’t wait any longer for action to end gun violence.
It’s my pledge to work with my colleagues in Congress and President Biden to pass legislation to save lives and stop violence and deaths caused by firearms before they occur. I’m asking you to recommit to this effort with me.
No more excuses. For our children and future generations, we must act now.
Thanks,
Mike
