Friend,
3 years ago, a mass school shooting shook the core of our country.
On February 14th, 2018, a gunman opened fire with a semi-automatic rifle at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. 17 people were killed and 17 others were injured that day.
On the three year anniversary, we mourn with the families and friends of the Americans we lost that day.
But we know thoughts and prayers are not enough -- we need policy and action that ends gun violence in America.
The National Rifle Association has a chokehold on many of our political leaders and has wielded its influence to cause divisiveness and inaction in Congress for far too long. Their leadership blocks even the smallest commonsense reforms that are supported by a majority of Americans -- commonsense reforms that could have prevented what happened 3 years ago.
The tide is turning against the NRA, and I'm proud to have stood against them. But we need to keep speaking out to break their grip on Congress for good.
I won't stop fighting for the safety of our children, and that includes fighting for commonsense gun reform. If you're with me -- if you're with our children and their safety, sign on to my petition to send a message to Congress: Pass gun reform.
Universal background checks and closing the gun show loophole. Banning bump stocks. Prohibiting the sale of guns to domestic abusers. Keeping weapons of war out of our neighborhoods, churches, theaters, and schools.
These are all things that have the power to prevent senseless gun violence from happening ever again.
We have the power to make change -- and we have the power to defeat the NRA.
I'm proud to have had the endorsement of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense for both my campaigns -- and I'm even prouder to be in this fight to protect our children with you, friend.
On the 3 year anniversary of one of the deadliest school shootings in our history, join me in the fight to put an end to gun violence by signing our petition.
With love,
Antonio
