We're so excited to tell you about the #1 priority for progressives in Congress: the For The People Act.
This bill would be a massive step in ensuring that our democracy works for everyone. It would make it easier to vote by instituting automatic voter registration nationwide, expanding early voting and absentee voting, and streamlining the vote-by-mail process. It would outlaw voter purges like those that cost Stacey Abrams her governor's race in Georgia. And it would put an end to partisan gerrymandering once and for all.
We know passing this bill is crucial to protecting free and fair elections, especially after the political turmoil we've experienced -- and both the House and the Senate have made it their top priority.
But passing this bill, even in a blue Congress, won't be easy. As Josh Silver, head of the nonprofit RepresentUs stated, "Now that it's not symbolic, those legislators who are more in bed with special interests and broken establishments are starting to bark, and we have to light a fire under them."
