43 Republican senators once again put their one-man cult over the
well-being of this nation. 

They failed to hold Trump accountable for inciting a deadly insurrection —
the worst attack on the Capitol since the War of 1812 — and in doing so,
failed to protect our country, our Constitution, and our very democracy.

I know because I was there, trapped in the House Gallery just feet away
from the violent insurrectionists who were pounding on the doors and
looking for Members of Congress who they considered to be traitors for
merely upholding the will of the people in a free and fair election. 

We must hold the 43 Republican senators fully accountable for further
endangering our nation with their cowardice and for refusing to put
country over party at a moment it mattered most. 

But we must also refuse to let Donald Trump off the hook for causing this
deadly insurrection and for any of the other countless crimes he committed
while in office.

America held him accountable at the ballot box in November. Now, Congress
