We wanted to give you an update on what’s happening in D.C. right now with the impeachment trial in the Senate. It’s hard to keep up, but that’s why we are here to help! So here’s what’s happening…
We expect the Senate will vote on whether to acquit or convict the impeached former President Donald Trump very soon. Remember, your senators were elected to represent you -- call them now and let them know how you think they should vote on these articles of impeachment.
As a reminder, the articles of impeachment against Donald Trump charge him with committing “high Crimes and Misdemeanors” for inciting the deadly insurrection attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.
After closing arguments, the Senate will vote on whether or not to convict the former president. 67 votes -- two-thirds of the Senate -- are needed for conviction. Without them, the former president will be acquitted.
