We’re almost at the conclusion of former President Trump’s second impeachment trial.

Don’t you think the impeachment managers have put forward a compelling case to convict Donald Trump? Impeachment managers showed the world footage we’ve never seen before of that terrible day, which drove home the terror inflicted on all who were at the Capitol on that fateful day.

I, for one, relived what I experienced first hand. It was horrendous. Officers severely beaten by thugs, staffers hiding in fear, and Senators literally running for their lives with Trump’s angry lynch mob just feet away.

Sadly, it appears that Senate Republicans are more concerned with incurring the wrath of Trump’s supporters than they are with protecting our democracy from a mad man. The Senate MUST convict Trump and bar him from ever holding office again. If he is not held accountable now, chances are that he -- or some other tyrant -- will unleash even greater threats to our democracy than the insurrection of January 6, an infamous day in our nation’s history.
