Friend,
President's Day weekend is upon us, but that doesn't mean there isn't plenty of work to be done for the issues facing our state and our nation! This coming week, we need your help supporting our educators, parents, students, and allies in the fight to raise revenue for our public schools. Plus, we have TWO excellent episodes of Progressive University lined up that you definitely shouldn't miss! If you couldn't make our last Progressive University episode on gun violence prevention in Nevada, view it here, with the passcode: v8?#zu5P.
Here's what's coming up this week:

Join Educators February 15th
One of the most important priorities for this legislative session is for our representatives to stop kicking the can and have a real conversation about raising revenue. One reason for this is to stop the budget from being balanced on the backs of our public schools and educators every time there's a budget crisis. This Monday, February 15th, at 12:00pm noon, Nevada educators, parents, students, and community members are making their voices heard in dual socially distanced rallies in both the legislative building in Carson City and the Grant Sawyer building in Las Vegas! Our Executive Director, Annette, will be there and if you can, we'd love for you to join us and our educator friends as they 'line the street at 6 feet' this Monday. RSVP here to show your support.

Get a checkup on healthcare
Progressive University Episode 3 is also coming on Monday, February 15th later in the afternoon at 5:00pm. Our first topic this week is the state of healthcare. Now that we have a new administration, how do we actually expand access to healthcare, lower prescription drug costs, and undo the damage of the past four years? These answers and more will be explored by our guest Margarida Jorge with Health Care for America Now (HCAN) so make sure you register for the Zoom event and we'll see you for a post-rally Progressive University class!

Reproductive Justice 101
Next, join us for our 4th Progressive University episode on Reproductive Justice 101 happening this Wednesday, February 17th at 5:00pm. Access to abortion and reproductive care is not equitable across all communities and this session will discuss the movements underway to reclaim that autonomy for all those capable of giving birth. The session will feature BBP Deputy Director Maria-Teresa Liebermann-Parraga, Dr. Toni Bond, and Karla Ramirez with Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains. Don't forget to sign up for your second class of the week at the Zoom link here!
