President Biden is clearing Donald Trump's U.S. attorneys out of the Justice Department.
On Tuesday, the Biden administration formally asked nearly every remaining U.S. attorney appointed by the ex-president to resign by the end of the month, ensuring that the cases taken up by federal prosecutors over the next months and years will actually be dealt with fairly and with sound judgement.
Unfortunately -- no surprise here -- the Trump coalition is outraged by the move. BidenDOJ.com, a website run by former Trump DOJ official Ian Prior, called Biden's decision a “Sneak Play on Impeachment Eve.”
Here's the thing, though -- we absolutely, positively need every single Trump loyalist out of the federal government as soon as possible. There's no telling what damage any one of them could do if they're allowed to continue in positions of power.
But not only are the Republicans staunchly against a federal government that works for the people instead of special interests, they're holding out to sabotage Biden's new picks for as long as they can. Merrick Garland, the federal appeals judge and nominee for attorney general, still hasn't even had a confirmation hearing.
They're going to make life as difficult for these new officials as possible -- and then, next year, they're going to try and take back Congress to grind the entire thing to a halt.
We're raring to stop them. All we want is to protect our majority and allow the Biden-Harris team the space to rebuild our country. But we're running out of steam, and we're not sure the supporters like you that we need to keep fueling us are paying attention anymore.
