Hi John,
From impeachment to COVID relief and response -- there's a lot to break into at the national level. But we have to keep attention to the state and local level too, otherwise we will repeat the same patterns that led to the rise of Donald Trump and the loss of progressive power.
Here's just a taste of what the GOP is trying to get away with: Republicans in 14 states have proposed anti-LGBTQIA+ bills. In South Carolina, the state Senate passed a bill effectively outlawing abortions. And then there are the nearly 500 state legislators who encouraged or attended the attack on the Capitol.
I'm not sharing this to frighten you, I'm doing it to remind you that winning power at the state and local levels is an absolute necessity for our communities and our democracy.
Run for Something's theory of change for this is simple: Help diverse, young progressives run for every state and local seat so we can secure sustainable, permanent power and stop this hate and ignorance.
But this work demands one thing of all of us:
It demands our energy. It demands your energy, John.
In the coming months, the team at HQ and I will ask for your help recruiting candidates, volunteering with our endorsed class, attending our virtual events, and -- yes -- pitching in a few bucks if you can afford it.
When we do, remember that every year is an election year, and our candidates need your help to win sustainable power.
Thanks for taking the time to hear from me, now, check out what Run for Something has been up to >>>

RUN FOR SOMETHING
We're very proud to share that
January was RFS's BEST recruitment month of all time.
In total, 6,554 young progressives signed up to learn more about running at the state and local levels -- and if they choose to make a run for office, we'll be supporting them along the way.
Do you want to run, John?
