John, Valentine's Day will never be the same. Three years ago tomorrow, a gunman senselessly murdered 17 students and teachers with an AR-15 assault-rifle and injured many more. That day, valentines went unread, candy grams were left unexchanged, and children across our country witnessed yet another act of gun violence, wondering if they would be next.
In America, 3,371 children and teens (0-19) die from gun violence every year in the forms of gun suicide, everyday gun violence, unintentional shootings, and more. It's too late to bring back those we’ve lost to gun violence, but it’s not too late to secure the safety of future generations and honor victims and survivors with legislative action.
That’s why we’ve partnered with the Children’s Defense Fund and Team ENOUGH, our youth-led initiative, to demand Congress prioritize gun violence prevention immediately. This Valentine’s Day, we’re asking you to take two actions to honor all victims and survivors of gun violence:

As countless Americans prepare to celebrate Valentine’s Day without loved ones lost to gun violence, let’s show them they’re not alone and join them in demanding action! Together, we can give all Americans the best Valentine’s Day gift of all: a life free from gun violence. [[link removed]?]

[link removed] [[link removed]]
John, we have an exciting opportunity to rename a Virginia elementary school in honor of our namesake and hero, Sarah Brady — but we need your votes!
While many know Sarah's story of passing the Brady Bill, what many don't know is that Sarah, who lived the majority of her life in Virginia, was also a dedicated public school teacher. She even grew up attending Virginia public schools. Following her graduation from the College of William & Mary, Sarah went on to teach at a newly integrated elementary school where she was an advocate for racial justice. Will you vote to rename Maury Elementary School to Sarah Kemp Brady Elementary School? [[link removed]]

WATCH NOW: " An Oakland Story: Remembering Davey"
Brady’s Combating Crime Guns Initiative works with community-based groups like Youth Alive! and King David Respect for Life in Oakland, California, to help those most impacted by gun violence. Our new video, “An Oakland Story: Remembering Davey,” tells the powerful story of Jasmine Hardison, whose son, Davey, was only 21 years old when his life was tragically cut short by gun violence — a trend that drastically increased for Oakland residents in 2020 due to COVID-19 and cuts in resources.

Stories of gun violence survivors and victims inspire us to keep fighting for legislative and cultural change even in the face of obstacles. Our Combating Crime Guns Initiative works to reduce gun violence in impacted communities by stemming the flow of crime guns, and we will keep fighting for solutions that will reduce gun violence by investing in our communities. Brady Donor Spotlight of the Week: The Law Firm Cooper Elliott
[link removed] [[link removed]]
In 2018, Brady Legal and Cooper Elliott filed suit against Cabela’s [[link removed]] , alleging that the company negligently and illegally sold a black powder firearm to a prohibited purchaser. The firearm was used to kill Bryan Galliher, the gunman’s neighbor. In honor of Bryan, the Cooper Elliott law firm donated a portion of the settlement to Brady. Here at Brady, we are grateful to have Cooper Elliott as an ally in the fight to prevent gun violence, as well as be a recipient of their generosity. Tomorrow marks three years since Aalayah survived the shooting in Parkland, FL. Since then, Aalayah has been an integral member of Brady’s Team ENOUGH and has dedicated her life to preventing gun violence — and not just mass shootings that capture national headlines — but all forms of gun violence. Throughout the summer of 2020, Aalayah was on the front-lines with Concerned Citizens of D.C., an organization Aalayah helped found, demanding justice for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and countless other Black and Brown Americans who have been killed at the hands of police.
Thank you, Aalayah for turning your pain and grief into action. We are behind you every step of the way in our fight to end gun violence.
