Protecting Voters from Purges

This week Congresswoman Joyce Beatty introduced the Save Voters Act, a piece of legislation to prohibit states from using the same type of questionable voter purge tactics that Ohio has used to take tens of thousands of eligible voters off the voting rolls.

"The right to vote is not a 'use-it or lose-it' proposition. Rather, voting is a permanent guarantee that is the very lifeblood of our nation," Beatty said. "To sit back and allow that right to be restricted or removed over something as minor as failing to respond to a postcard is unthinkable, especially when it is particularly harmful for communities of color, veterans, and vulnerable populations." She continued, "As the Representative of Ohio's Third Congressional District and Congressional Black Caucus Chair, I will continue to do everything in my power toward making it easier -- not harder -- for people to vote."

Josh Mandel Embraces Anti-Vaccine Rhetoric, Pushes Big Lie in Campaign Kickoff

Failed candidate and corrupt politician Josh Mandel launched his third campaign for the U.S. Senate in Ohio this week -- and he's already pushing a series of reckless conspiracy theories for his own self-serving political benefit as he tries to position himself for what will be an "expensive, noisy," "crowded and nasty" Republican primary.

In a media blitz, the twice-failed Senate candidate embraced wildly irresponsible positions ranging from dangerous anti-public health skepticism about the COVID-19 vaccine to the obviously false assertion that Donald Trump won the 2020 election. Mandel refused to say if he'll take the COVID-19 vaccine and pushed harmful anti-public health rhetoric, admitted that he would have joined Ted Cruz in voting to overturn November's election results and even argued that the election was "stolen" from Trump, aligning himself with the irresponsible conspiracy theories that led to last month's deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.

"Josh Mandel has already confirmed again that his Senate candidacy will continue a years-long pattern of embracing dangerous conspiracy theories and personal scandals to put himself and his own political interests first at Ohio's expense," said Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson Stewart Boss.
