On Nov. 8, 2022, 34 U.S. Senate seats will be up for election. Of those 34 Senate seats, Republicans currently hold 20 and Democrats hold 14. Four Republicans have announced they will not run for re-election.

Pennsylvania voters to decide changes to governor’s emergency powers in May


Voters will decide at least three constitutional amendments on May 18, including two that would alter the governor’s emergency powers. Legislative Republicans proposed those two amendments in response to Gov. Tom Wolf’s (D) emergency orders related to the coronavirus pandemic.

On Feb. 5, Vice President Kamala Harris (D) cast her first two tie-breaking votes in the U.S. Senate. Since John Adams cast the first tie-breaking vote on July 18, 1789, there have been 270 such votes from 37 vice presidents.
