Truth to Power’s fundraising has slowed down lately, John.
And you know what? I don’t blame our supporters for feeling fatigued.
After four years of the disastrous and deadly Trump administration, a global pandemic, virtually no relief for working families, and the recent attempted insurrection of the U.S. Capitol by extremists, I understand the desire to shut it all off.
But we can’t give up now, John.
I got into this fight because I wanted to make life better for working families like mine. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned during my time so far in Congress, it’s that this work is a marathon, not a sprint. And now that we’ve gotten Trump out of office, it’s important that we keep up our pace towards making real change.
We need to repair our democracy and clean up the corruption in our government. We need to listen to scientists and safely solve the coronavirus outbreak—and distribute vaccines quickly and efficiently. We need to get our economy back on track for the long-term recovery. We need to make quality healthcare available to everyone in our country. We need to fix the childcare crisis that working families struggled with well before the pandemic. We need to take immediate action to save our planet. We need to loosen the grip that billionaire corporations have over lawmakers and make our government work for working families.
If that sounds like a lot, it’s because it is. But in order to make this critical work possible, we need to vote in leaders who are brave enough to take risks and fight for what’s right. That’s why we started Truth to Power, and right now our top priority is to raise early resources that will support as many progressive candidates as possible in 2022.
