Cable news and social media might lead you to believe Democrats don't represent or fight for rural America.
But I'm here, as the representative for the 8th most rural congressional district, to prove that stereotype is wrong.
And right now, my top priority is passing the Rebuild Rural America Act with my fellow New Yorker, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.
The RRA Act would invest $50 billion into rural communities that have been hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Like much of America, rural communities are suffering from job loss, homelessness, and COVID-19 itself. But we can’t afford to take a one-size-fits-all approach -- not when our rural communities have historically been left behind and the struggles are compounded as a result.
So I'm fighting to get the Rebuild Rural America Act passed, ideally in the next COVID-19 relief package, so that rural communities get help specific to their needs.
