The trial for the impeachment of Donald Trump centered on bone-chilling
video footage of the president firing up a violent mob and sending it to
the Capitol Building.
The video shows Capitol Police crushed by men wielding guns and other
weapons. Armed people stalking the hallways of Congress, telling House
Speaker Nancy Pelosi they were coming for her. A woman shot. People
screaming “Traitor Pence” and “Fight for Trump" while hunting for the vice
president, saying they were following the directions of Trump.(1)
How could anyone see this footage and not immediately repudiate Trump and
his followers? But not only did Seditious Seven California Congressman
Kevin McCarthy vote against impeaching Trump -- he has doubled down on
aligning himself with Trump and his base.

McCarthy voted not to certify the presidential election results. He voted
not to impeach Trump for the insurrection. And just weeks after Trump’s
followers swarmed the Capitol Building, McCarthy visited Trump at Mar a
Lago, taking pictures with the disgraced ex-president.(2)
Then the following week, McCarthy refused to hold Trumper and QAnon
follower Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene accountable for her racism
and spreading of conspiracy theories, and Greene still claims Trump won
the election.(3) At the same time, he wouldn’t defend Representative Liz
Cheney, the top Republican who voted to impeach Trump.(4)
If there were any question about McCarthy’s motives, he laid them to rest
in an interview this week. The minority leader said he is already
fundraising in Florida to take back the House in 2022, and he’s recruiting
candidates.(5) Considering how he treated Greene and Cheney, and his visit
to Trump, it’s obvious what kind of candidates he’s going to invite to
run.
Trumpism, and the Seditious Seven members of Congress from California who
bolstered it, must be expelled from our government before it’s too late.
We need to constantly remind the people of California just how deep
McCarthy’s betrayal was -- or we’ll see a rise of Trumpism again. Will you
