John,
Black History Month is a time to reflect on more than just history.
It's a time to elevate stories, honor important leaders in the Black community, and celebrate Black culture -- but it is also a stark reminder that the fight for equality is ongoing, and honoring Black history should never be limited to just February.
Black history is American history, and we need to be listening, learning, and lifting it every single day -- and that's exactly what the National Action Network has been doing since 1991.
Founded by my dear friend Rev. Al Sharpton, the National Action Network has been committed to continuing the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and securing civil rights and equality for all people over the last 30 years.
So John, in honor of Black History Month and the NAN's upcoming 30th anniversary, can you join me in supporting the National Action Network by making a contribution today?
NAN works to educate and mobilize people across the country to expand voting rights, reform our criminal justice system, put a stop to racial profiling, bridge the digital divide, and so much more.
In Congress, I am hard at work to pass legislation that will increase access to the ballot box and eliminate injustices in the criminal justice system. I know that Black Lives Matter, and I fight for an equitable system that would live up to those three words every day.
The National Action Network's efforts have been instrumental in the fight for justice, decency, and equal opportunities for all people -- but they need your help to keep it up for decades to come.
I've been a longtime supporter of the National Action Network and friend of Rev. Sharpton. Please, join me in showing your support by making a donation right now.
Thank you,
Carolyn
P.S. Here is a picture of Rev. Al Sharpton and I painting “Black Lives Matter” on 5th Ave. this summer (check out where we’re painting this).
