To be American is to question authority. Embedded in our nation’s origin story is the belief that a government must always be accountable to the governed.

We, as citizens, need to ask ourselves the critical questions that will shape our country in 2020 and beyond.

Are we a country that demands openness and transparency in the highest levels of government?

Are we a country that insists on rooting out corruption -- one that refuses to let the rich and powerful bend the rules while the most vulnerable Americans pay the price?

And most important: Are we a country that aspires to the democratic ideals of fairness, justice, and equality?

My answer to these questions is a resounding yes. But words aren’t enough to protect our values. We need concerted action on the part of citizens all across the country. We need a chorus of voices that are committed to fighting for our democracy.

Please, if you can, chip in today to help us reach our campaign’s FEC goal. Match our average September online contribution of $15 or give whatever you can.
