📖 Essay, What are media reparations? ([link removed]) This essay by Media2070 examines the history of anti-Black harm in the U.S. media system, from the role of ads for enslaved persons played in our nation’s earliest newspapers to present day, where deregulation has resulted in very few Black owners of traditional media — while racist algorithms amplify the voices of white supremacists across online platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
🏫 Course, The news media has long supported white supremacy in its reporting of our communities. When the media tells the stories of Black families, they are almost always associated with crime or poverty. Join Worth Rises every Tuesday to learn how the prison industrial complex is built, who profits, and how we can abolish it. “The Curriculum” is a 15-week free public education course based on their latest report, The Prison Industry: How it Started, How it Works, How it Harms ([link removed]) . Through this course, participants will grow their knowledge and understanding of the prison industry and frameworks to imagine the world without it.
