Friend,

I'm not a policy expert like some of my friends and colleagues here at Evergreen. I don't stay up until 2 or 3 in the morning, writing about RPS (renewable portfolio standards), the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), or ZECs (zero-emissions electricity credits).

But this is very clear: A federal clean electricity standard (CES) would transform the U.S. power grid to run entirely on clean, carbon-free electricity by 2035—and put thousands of people in communities across America to work in good-paying jobs.

The CES was a crucial piece of Jay Inslee's climate agenda during his climate-centered presidential campaign. We were thrilled when Biden took it up as part of his climate plan. And carrying the torch forward, Evergreen knows how central it must be to this new administration.

That's why we recently released a 56-page roadmap the Democrats can use to pass a CES (with or without Republican support). That's why it's the number-one policy that Evergreen is pushing for right now. And that's why the Gov, my old boss, has shared emphatic support for our roadmap:

"In November, the American people demanded we transition to clean energy, and Evergreen has shown the way."

We're thrilled by the support our report has attracted, from policymakers to climate activists, online and offline. The American electorate doesn't care about praise alone, though. They want to see the Biden-Harris administration and the Democratic leaders in Congress press ahead with 100% clean electricity. Now that our report is out in the world, our next job is to spread it far and wide so it gets put into action.

We're close to making a 100% federal clean electricity standard a reality, but we need your support to keep raising the volume. Donate to Evergreen today to help finish the fight—from Jay and onward—for a federal clean electricity standard.
