The Actors Fund

Dear Actors Fund Friends,

This week, we’re celebrating love of all kinds, and we invite you to do to the same! We’re inspired by the members of Looking Ahead New York, our program for young performers in the entertainment industry on the East Coast: they virtually gathered last weekend to make more than 100 Valentine’s Day cards for the seniors living at The Actors Fund Home! Their creativity and craftiness will help brighten the spirits of the residents of The Home, who have dedicated so much of their lives to the performing arts community. If you’d like to learn more about The Home and leave a Valentine’s Day message for the residents and staff, you can visit their Facebook page and say hello!

We hope you and your loved ones continue to be healthy, safe and well. Thank you for supporting a life in the arts!

Stacy Keach Zoom Theater

From love to despair, anger to loss, and laughter to happiness, The Gardener is a play about passion in different forms. Award winning playwright Lanie Robertson created this magnificent play about the world famous impressionist, Claude Monet, and his relationship with the Prime Minister of France, Clemenceau, and Monet’s stepdaughter, Blanche. Ed Harris, Amy Madigan and Stacy Keach star in this reading, with Malgosia Tomassi as the Artistic Director and Stacy Keach as Director. The stream is free through February 18 with donations encouraged to The Actors Fund.

Sunday, February 14, 7:30 pm ET

YouTube

Andrea Marcovicci shares nostalgic and romantic songs and stories in this gentle, light-hearted, Valentine's show with Brad Ellis virtually joining on piano. Often referred to as The Queen of Cabaret for her twenty-five-year stint at the Oak Room of the Algonquin Hotel, Andrea glides into the online world with her annual Valentine's Day show. The YouTube stream will be followed by a live video chat after-party with Andrea on her Facebook page. Both the show and the after-party are free, with donations to The Actors Fund encouraged. The show will remain available for one week until February 20.

Piaf

Piaf: Her Story…Her Songs
Monday, February 15, 7:30 pm ET

Broadway’s Best Shows

Part documentary, part stage performance, this entertaining look at French chanteuse Edith Piaf tells her story through a terrific theatrical presentation by singer Raquel Bitton, who literally becomes Piaf while singing, but steps back and tells her story—in English—between the mostly French songs. Archival photos of Piaf illustrate her life of lucky breaks and tragedy. Some of the film's best moments are of Bitton and Piaf’s friends, lovers, composers happily discussing Piaf over food and wine at a Paris bistro. Featuring 16 songs performed with a full orchestra, including “La Vie En Rose”, “No Regrets” and “Hymn To Love”. Streamed for free on Broadway’s Best Shows and The Actors Fund YouTube channels with donations encouraged.
