Care workers, most of whom are women of color and immigrants, have been forced by the COVID-19 pandemic to make impossible choices between their own health and supporting themselves and their families. And even though they’ve been on the frontlines of the crisis, they are still excluded from basic workplace protections and are the last to get relief.
The Biden Administration has pledged to center care in their relief and recovery efforts. It’s up to us to ensure that Congress and the administration act quickly and make good on this important promise.

In the midst of this COVID related loss and fear, one thing is clear: care work is the backbone of the American economy and is vital to ensuring we are ALL able to live at home safely and with dignity . That’s why we must make home care jobs good union jobs with a path to citizenship and family-sustaining wages, benefits and training to provide the highest quality of care. Millions of care workers and families cannot afford to wait.
