Open enrollment for health care begins in just a few days, lasting from February 15th through May 15th. This is exactly the kind of leadership we need -- soon after entering the White House, President Joe Biden took swift action to order a new open enrollment period for the federal health care exchange to help uninsured Americans get the coverage their families need during the pandemic.

I’ve been calling for a special enrollment period since the beginning of the pandemic, but former President Trump ignored those calls. Unlike Trump, President Biden recognizes the gravity of the coronavirus and the importance of access to health care during the pandemic.

Health insurance can quite literally mean the difference between life and death. Reopening the exchange was the first step. Now, we need to make sure everyone hears the news -- friends, family, neighbors, and even strangers.
