Trump Meets With LaPierre to Discuss How N.R.A. Could Support Political Defense
— The New York Times, September 27, 2019

In a meeting yesterday, Wayne LaPierre reportedly bargained with Trump about the NRA bankrolling a defense against impeachment in exchange for Trump’s promise to block gun safety bills. LaPierre went so far as to tell Trump to “stop the games” with considering potential gun violence prevention laws.

It’s not a game that 100 Americans lose their lives each day to gun violence…

It’s not a game that we have an epidemic killing 40,000 Americans each year…

It’s not a game that our schools, synagogues, churches, bars, malls, movie theaters, and every place you can imagine have been impacted by gun violence...

John, we cannot continue to let our leaders put profits over people. We urgently need your support to stop this corruption. Our President was supposed to be working to save our lives...not saving his own skin. Help us end the NRA’s hold on our elected officials.

I wouldn’t ask for your help unless I knew we could make a difference. Trump is selling our safety in return for his own political gain. Please, with so much at stake, consider a contribution. Help us now so we all have a tomorrow. It’s in our hands!

Thank you,

-Brian
