This week, the second impeachment trial of Donald Trump began in the Senate. This makes Donald Trump the first President to be impeached twice, and the first to be tried in the Senate after his presidency ended.
But while this is unprecedented, it's for good reason. Donald Trump unequivocally incited the violent January 6th insurrection that resulted in the loss of five lives and could have been much, much deadlier.
Even though Trump may no longer be President, it's absolutely crucial that he face consequences for undermining our democracy. We need the Senate to convict Trump and bar him from running for office ever again.
