Friends, I know we are still reeling from Tuesday’s tragedy in Buffalo. From the patients and staff at the clinic to the law enforcement officers who ran to the scene and the paramedics who arrived to administer care, we saw heroes born on Tuesday. Buffalo is an incredible city with incredibly resilient people, but they are going to need our prayers to heal. I ask you to keep the families of the four injured victims in your prayers, along with the family of Lindsay Overby, the clinic worker who lost her life. If you are so inclined, consider supporting her family through this GoFundMe page: [link removed]. I also want to express my gratitude to all the brave law enforcement officers and first responders who rushed to the scene of the incident without hesitation to stop the suspect and immediately care for those injured. Even though we never thought that something like this would happen in Buffalo, law enforcement and first responders acted quickly and professionally, just as they were trained to do. Finally, I am especially thankful for the leadership shown by Wright County Sheriff Sean Deringer, Buffalo Police Chief Pat Budke, and Buffalo Mayor Teri Lachermeier. Their willingness to step up during a time of great crisis has been a breath of fresh air, and they have set the standard high for how leaders should act when their communities are hurting. Thank you, Sean, Pat, and Teri for your service. I am confident that law enforcement, first responders, and the entire community of Buffalo will continue to help heal and rebuild Buffalo in the aftermath of this tragedy. With brave men and women like these willing to be present and active in their community, I know Buffalo will honor the memory of Lindsay and work to make their home an even better place.
