Friend,

It's been nearly three years since our nation's deadliest
school shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland,
Florida. This anniversary weighs heavily on my heart, as a
lawmaker and more painfully, as a father.

The massacre in Parkland was not an anomaly. Many communities
across the nation have experienced similar, preventable
tragedies. San Diego suffered the devastating attack on the Chabad of Poway synagogue less than two years ago.

Lawmakers owe it to our students and communities to take action
-- they deserve for us to build momentum towards comprehensive gun
safety reform in Congress. Now that we have a Democratic majority
in the House and Senate, we have the power to finally pass
meaningful, common-sense reform.

Refusing to acknowledge that we have a gun control problem is
not just negligent -- it's immoral. Hundreds of thousands of
students have experienced a school shooting since Columbine.

These are the young people who are leading the movement to
demand the common-sense gun reforms they deserve. They're
fighting for the right to go to school, a concert, a movie
theater, or a place of worship without fear of gun violence.

Action on gun safety is long overdue -- we have the power to
make progress, but we need your voice to demand action.
