Leadership matters in times of crisis. And I trust you will agree with me, Connecticut is in a time of crisis.
Let me tell you what we can do about it.
When I led the Republican Revolution, crafting the Contract With America in 1994, we fundamentally transformed the way Republicans ran for office. We transparently and effectively rallied around a set of core principles and proposals which our team promised the American people we would implement if elected.
The result? We flipped the United States House of Representatives to Republican control for the first time in 40 years. Then Republicans did something unheard of: we followed through with our promises to the people and implemented common sense conservative reforms, many of which remain in place today.
Connecticut desperately needs the kind of reforms my team and I brought to Washington.
I am confident that with the help of my former Policy Assistant and your Vice Chair, Sue Hatfield, serious reform can happen in Connecticut! But change will only come if the Connecticut Republican Party is strong and possesses the resources to compete and win in all corners of your great state.
Frankly, your state party needs to carry our conservative message in new ways to the people who will make the critical decision to elect new leadership, starting in the rapidly approaching 2022 Election Cycle.

Ned Lamont and the uber-liberals in leadership in your State Legislature are doubling down on their horrible tax-and-spend policies, proving every day that they have neither the will nor ability to turn Connecticut’s budget morass around.
On issue after issue, Democrats are on the wrong side:
- Congressional Republicans have lowered and streamlined federal taxes. In Connecticut, the Democrats continue to raise and complicate your taxes.
- Congressional Republicans brought transparency to the federal budget and shined a light on mismanagement of federal funds. In Connecticut, the Democrats have deepened their budgetary shell game, creating new "special funds" which they then pillage to fill holes in the General Fund they so badly mismanaged.
- Congressional Republicans raised standards and gave communities the resources to help every American achieve a better future if they were willing to put in the work. In Connecticut, the Democrats are fixated on the same old class warfare that pits neighbors against one another in pursuit of their own re-election.
- Congressional Republicans solved big problems for the American people when I was Speaker of the House. Your Democrat leaders are actually making problems worse by pretending they don't exist or blaming their political opposition.
But here's the problem with Democrats' blame game, John:
The Democrats have controlled Connecticut for half a century!
Don't you think it is time the people of Connecticut stand up and say "No More"? Personally, I think it is beyond time for new ideas and new leadership!
