The whole reason we spent the last 4 years with a white supremacist president is because there has never been accountability for the platforms of hatred and bigotry that many people, including Trump, built their careers on.
Decades ago, Trump and his family were sued for discriminating against Black families attempting to rent their properties. In the 1990s, he was overly vocal in calling for the death penalty in the Central Park 5 case, despite the lack of evidence against them.
No accountability
handed Trump the presidency, and we refuse to let it happen again.
Congress has the real power to set a strict precedent that discourages any president from advancing the white supremacist agenda. For a lot of congressional members, their lives were threatened for the first time by the same people who've been threatening Black people our entire lives.
If this isn't a wake up call for them to finally take substantive action against white supremacists, then what will make them?

The world watched as white supremacists attempted to overthrow our democracy and our practices.
Our fair and free elections.
Our dignity.
And even though they failed on January 6th, there's no telling what the next time will look like or how many people will be hurt or killed.
We must make it abundantly clear that white supremacists have no place in our democracy.
