Senator Schatz fervently advocates for comprehensive action on climate change in the Senate and he helped create and implement one of the strongest clean energy plans in the country, aiming to meet 70% of Hawaii’s energy needs through energy efficiency and renewable energy by 2030. In 2019, Senator Schatz introduced the Climate Change Financial Risk Act, requiring the Fed to establish an advisory group of climate scientists and economists to help develop climate change scenarios.
