Hello John,

Fantastic news -- Democrats are considering nominating a woman to run for Ohio Senator Rob Portman's soon-to-be-vacated seat in 2022, and we couldn't be more thrilled.

“As the Democratic Party, we have done the same thing over and over and over again, which is to run white men, and we haven't been successful,” says Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley. “I think we have to offer something different and I think that's important; whether that's people of color on the ticket in a meaningful way, and women, you know we are the base of the party, and we shouldn't be an afterthought.”

We couldn't agree more -- the 2020 elections have shown us just how outdated the “women aren't electable” trope is, and we're ready to smash records to prove it again in 2022. It's high time more women were given full access to the resources, political tools, and infrastructure they need to successfully win their campaigns for office.

The Ohio Democratic party has more than enough qualified women to take on and beat a Republican challenger; Congresswoman Joyce Beatty, Ohio House Democratic Leader Emilia Strong Sykes, and emerging frontrunner Dr. Amy Acton, a former Ohio state health director who became popular for her work during the pandemic. But for any of them to succeed, they need to know we have their backs.

Will you help us grow our fund to elect more women to office? Our grassroots budget is alarmly low after the 2020 election. >> [link removed]
