Friend --
In my three years as a member on the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR), I voted multiple times against Governor Pritzker's overreaching executive orders.?JCAR is a process committee and on many occasions I believed the Governor was usurping the role of the legislature.?
The new culturally responsive teaching mandates from the Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE) are another example of overreach from the Pritzker Administration. Few rights are more fundamental than raising your children in the best manner possible.?
I said many times on the floor of the Illinois Senate that it should not act as a 59-member school board. The same is true about ISBE. Parents, school boards, and local superintendents, not unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats, should make decisions about your children's education.?
You can read more about the new culturally responsive mandates in my op-ed in The Southern here:?JCAR should reject politicization of teacher certification <[link removed]>
In case you missed it, I also hosted a Facebook Live with Ted Dabrowski from Wirepoints about how you can take action against the mandates. Watch it here: ISBE Education Mandates & JCAR <[link removed]>
Thanks for reading. Stay safe and warm!
