It has been a busy six weeks to start 2021 and it’s already the middle of the quarter. We’re going to tell you all about it below and then ask you to chip in to help continue Pramila’s urgent work and hit our mid-quarter fundraising goal.
What Pramila has been doing: A LOT. Pramila has been tirelessly advocating for $2,000 recurring survival checks, an expansive COVID relief package that helps working families and gets folks vaccinated, raising the minimum wage to $15, canceling student debt, holding Trump and all those involved in the January 6 Capitol attack fully accountable, and much more. Like we said, she's done a lot.
She didn’t stop working, even when she contracted COVID-19 from Republican Members of Congress who refused to wear masks during the insurrection. Even while she was in quarantine, she voted to impeach Trump and successfully made a major push to fine and remove from the Capitol GOP lawmakers who still refused to wear masks.
Where we are today: Pramila’s fight helped get the $15 minimum wage proposal into the House relief package. She also removed a provision that would have taken survival checks away from 40 million people who received them last time. Her early call for Trump’s second impeachment led her colleagues to impeach with a bipartisan vote. Her bold fights for true economic and social justice continue in full force. And once Pramila helps pass this COVID relief package, we’ll continue our work to end the climate crisis, pass humane immigration reform, organize for Medicare for All, and so much more.
Pramila’s fight isn’t just in Congress. She’s taken our big, bold message to the airwaves including joining Rachel Maddow to discuss her push for progressive change, and accountability after the deadly Capitol attack. Pramila will continue making the case for her people-first vision for this country in the days, weeks, and months ahead.
We look forward to continuing this work with you by our side,
Team Jayapal
