Dear John,
Income inequality continues to spiral out-of-control, putting working people even further behind. The COVID-19 pandemic and economic crisis has only worsened our systemic problems. Far too many people struggle to make ends meet, and living and working in so-called “right-to-work” states. Working people in these states—especially Black, brown, and Indigenous essential workers—lack basic protections in benefits, even while they work in high-COVID risk jobs. Many employers continue to make it harder for them to organize, join a union, or bargaining for basic rights in the workplace or health and safety precautions.
But the Protect the Right to Organize—or PRO—Act can change that. Tell Congress right now to pass the PRO Act today and send it to President Biden for his signature.
If passed, the or PRO Act would provide millions of working people around the country the additional protections they need to organize and collectively bargain. The PRO Act would prohibit employers from interfering with organizing efforts or voting procedures for joining a union. The bill would also enhance support for strikes, boycotts, and close gaping loopholes in federal employment and labor laws.
The bill passed the House last year and has been reintroduced in the new Democratically-controlled Congress. We have a real opportunity to get the PRO Act passed and signed into law, but we need your help. Tell Congress it’s crucial for them to protect working people’s rights on the job. Sign the petition and urge them to pass the PRO Act now.
We have an opportunity to finally end an oppressive system that will help working people during the pandemic and well beyond. The PRO Act won’t fix everything, but it’s a big next step to ending a system that too often favored employers over working people. Please, sign the petition and let Congress know they should pass the PRO Act.
Thank you for everything you do.
In Solidarity,
Joel
