Standing up to bad ideas from the Democrats is going to be a full-time job in Congress!

I got a taste of that late last night, in the House Small Business Committee that I am a member of. Democrats are trying to more than double the minimum wage.

It sounds so simple: free money from the liberals!

But any business owner knows that if they're forced to double paychecks for the same amount of work (without additional money coming in), it means fewer jobs overall, and cutbacks or fewer hours. That's not good for working people, despite the liberals' promises.

That's why I introduced a common-sense amendment to do just one thing: ask just how many jobs would be lost because of this change.

Of course, the Democrats don't really want to know the answer to that question, so they voted it down.

But I was still proud to do exactly what I promised I would do: fight for the people I represent, and stand up against bad ideas from the radical left in Congress.

As we move forward in the next two years, there are going to be a lot more battles just like this one.
