Hi John,
On Monday, the Boundary Waters Permanent Protection Bill was introduced in both the Minnesota House (H.F. 840) and Senate (S.F. 763) by chief authors Representative Kelly Morrison and Senator Steve Cwodzinski. This is fantastic news for the Boundary Waters. Thank you to these true Boundary Waters Champions!
This bill permanently protects the Boundary Waters and Voyageurs National Park from the inevitable and devastating damage that would result from sulfide-ore copper mining pollution in its watershed and is the state companion to the bipartisan Boundary Waters Wilderness Protection and Pollution Prevention Act introduced in the U.S. Congress by Rep. Betty McCollum.
The Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters has a multi-pronged, strategic approach to attaining permanent protection for the Boundary Waters, including complimentary but unique tactics for the state and federal levels. You can support our critical work in Minnesota and Washington, D.C. by making a contribution today. Together, we can protect the Boundary Waters. Alex Falconer
P.S. The fight to protect the Boundary Waters from sulfide-ore copper mining has both state and federal components, and the Campaign is leading these efforts with our complimentary legislation for permanent protection. Support this far-reaching work by making a gift today.
