GOP legislators are now working overtime to downplay the principal role Trump played in attempting a fascist takeover and inciting the violent attacks on the Capitol.

While many GOP members were quick to condemn the January 6 attack, few seem willing to admit there is any correlation between Trump's unfounded claims of election fraud and the insurrectionary attack on the Capitol. They don't care about protecting our democracy. They only care about preserving their political power.

It's up to us to make sure that Trump and his allies in Congress know that we aren't distracted by their cries of “unconstitutional” impeachment proceedings -- we will neither forgive nor forget the war they've waged on our democracy these past few months.
