John,
Just last week, members of Congress stood on the House floor to talk about their traumatizing experiences during the attempted coup on January 6th.
Over a month later, people are still forced to work with the very individuals who encouraged the violent mob that planned to murder members of Congress and now former Vice President Pence.
We watched as Sen. Josh Hawley raised his fist to the crowds of white supremacists. We watched Sen. Ted Cruz aggressively spout baseless claims of voter fraud. We watched Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's vile history of violent rhetoric finally make national news. And we watched countless other GOP members, in spite of no evidence, vote against certifying the results of our democratic election.
We were all there -- watching from near and afar.
And it's blatantly clear to all of us that there are members of Congress who are just as responsible for the attack on the Capitol as Donald Trump. We must hold them accountable too, no matter what happens during this impeachment trial.
Rep. Cori Bush has a resolution to do just that -- but getting it passed in Congress requires us, the people, to put an immense amount of pressure on them to do so.
It's been a month too long without any sort of investigation -- we won't wait any longer. Use our easy action tool to demand your representative(s) support Rep. Cori Bush's resolution to investigate and expel members of Congress who incited the attempted coup >>
We're the people of this country, and these folks need to realize that they work for
us -- and that
we the people are the ones who have the power to ensure that white supremacy cannot thrive any longer, especially in Congress.
White supremacy cannot coexist with democracy. It must be one or the other.
This is why the days of having white supremacists in public office must end. And if the riots at the Capitol don't serve as a wake-up call -- we will.
Our demands and the noise we make will be the wake-up call.
We will keep demanding accountability until accountability is what we get. Call your representative(s) and demand they support Rep. Bush's resolution to expel members of Congress who did not uphold their oath -- because white supremacy and fascism have no place in Congress.
In love and solidarity,
