This week, my colleagues in the Senate and I are considering the impeachment charge brought against Donald Trump for his role in inciting the violent January 6th insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.

I’m focused on making sure my Republican colleagues follow the facts and do their constitutional duty to hold Trump accountable for his actions. But while this trial is an important step in restoring faith in our Constitution and trust in our system of checks and balances, it’s also clear we have serious work to do to strengthen and repair our democracy.

That’s why I’ve been fighting to get dark money out of our politics, pass tough ethics laws, safeguard voting rights and eliminate partisan gerrymandering across the country. We cannot rest until we ensure that the voice of the people, not the bankrolls of corporations and billionaires, is at the center of our politics.

Will you add your name to our petition calling for these comprehensive democratic reforms? We need overwhelming support for our push to repair our democracy and restore trust in our government >>

One thing is for sure — the threat Trump posed to our system will not end until we take real steps to restore our democracy and address dark money and the corruption it brings.

Big corporations and dark money SuperPACs have shown us they will spend whatever it takes to keep their influence and will oppose those who threaten the system that benefits them. The only way we’re going to go up against these forces and win is with broad-based grassroots power.

That’s why your involvement is so important. Thank you for being part of this fight!

Chris
