Personalized Care
What to Know: U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz and Congressman Chip Roy have jointly filed legislation titled the Personalized Care Act, which would help more Americans get and keep health insurance. ([link removed] )
The TPPF Take: The bill would allow individual to purchase medical coverage and services with pre-tax dollars.
“Allowing for this equality between employers and employees will help improve portability of coverage for individuals and would free Americans from job-lock of undesirable jobs they are keeping solely for cheaper, employer-based health insurance,” says TPPF’s David Balat.

California? Seriously?
What to Know: The Biden administration is looking to California for policy inspiration. ([link removed] )
The TPPF Take: In the words of Biden himself, “Come on, man.”
“California’s homeless population exploded over the past five years,” notes TPPF’s Michele Steeb. “Yet the state continues to double down on its one-size-fits-all policy approach—Housing First—that was instituted in 2016 based on the theory that housing alone will heal the ills of those struggling with homelessness. In government, nothing succeeds like failure.”

Show Some Backbone
What to Know: Mexico has “cleared” retired Gen. Salvador Cienfuegos of any wrongdoing—despite the evidence. ([link removed] )
The TPPF Take: There is ample evidence of Cienfuegos’ involvement in drug trafficking.
“President Biden should ramp up pressure,” says TPPF’s Josh Jones. “Cienfuegos should be reindicted, an arrest warrant reissued, and Mexico pressured to effect his arrest and extradition to the United States. Congressional financial support of Mexican counter-gang efforts, the Mérida Initiative, should cease until the government of Mexico demonstrates a renewed commitment to bilateral cooperation with U.S. law enforcement.”
