A new Wall Street-backed candidate in the Comptroller race is giving us a run for our money.

Brad Lander for NYC Comptroller

Dear John,

No matter what happens in Washington this week, the battle for the future of New York City is well under way.

Michelle Caruso-Cabrera, the Wall Street-backed, former Republican who switched parties to run against Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in the Democratic primary last year, just filed to run against Brad.

Not only do we expect her to go on the offensive attacking Brad, but she’s going to make this race A LOT more expensive. By opting out of the public matching program that we are relying on to run a grassroots race, Caruso-Cabrera will be able to raise unlimited sums from the Wall Street donors and hedge fund managers who fueled her run for Congress.

Can you chip in any amount now to send a strong message that Caruso-Cabrera’s wealthy donors can’t buy this election?

Caruso-Cabrera wrote a book that recommended eliminating Social Security and Medicare, She has also called public schools a “monopoly” that “harms the public,” opposed union rights for public workers, and suggested abolishing the federal departments of education and labor.

Many New Yorkers have already rejected these failed, right-wing ideas -- we’re ready to build a city that works for all of us. But if Caruso-Cabrera and her Wall Street donors are able to drown out our message, they could win this crowded primary election.

We need to double our goal for the month of February so that we can stay competitive. Chip in $10 or any amount now so we can compete with what Wall Street is throwing at us →

Thank you so much for your support. Stay safe,

Team Lander
